Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving! It's not just about the food, although I do love to eat and this day of all days, all of my favorite foods end up on the table in one sitting and I totally gorge myself, then somehow still find room for dessert... 

To me Thanksgiving is about the family, fellowship and the small things ( that are really big things, well at least in my heart), such as....

• the marathon cooking saturday before thanksgiving. when all the aunts and their daughters get together and drink coffee, eat, and gossip. oh yeah a little bit of dinner preparation happens. 
• the odd comforting effects of tearing apart cornbread and biscuits to make the dressing. some reason i love having my hand in this weird combo. 
• cousins coming in from out of town.
• now that I have a kid, watching Lincoln interact with his cousins and them actually having a blast.
• everyone screaming and laughing at the dinner table. the conversation getting louder and louder with everyone trying to get a word in. 
• napping while everyone is still screaming and laughing. 
• taking a walk and trying to climb a very steep rock wall. (thank goodness there was not an emergency room trip this year)
• missing the few that were not there, and knowing they are with us the whole time. 

there are so many more things i could list. i could literally go on for days, but i will leave it with just the few. if anyone wants to, feel free to add all of your own small thanksgiving things, memories, etc in the comments. i would love to hear what funny little things makes everyone smile.

A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love the greater the loss... That's the trade off. But I'll take it all.

the next few picture are of our little weirdos. we were trying to get them to pose together.  we never got a perfect pic of them, and you know what that's ok. these pictures say it all. i love them more than they will ever know...
