The Humphreys

"Knowing family so well that you can tell who is coming down the stairs by the sound of their footsteps."
I always like to start a post like this with a cute, sentimental quote. This was the first one I saw and it really hit home, it's both cute and sentimental. Well at least to me and my family.  My sister and I grew up in a two story red house and my mother would always say that just by seeing the blond blur flying down the stairs she might not know which one of us it was, but she could always tell our identity by the sound of our steps, or in my case the trip and stumble at the bottom and most of the time the very top of the stairs. Growing up my sister and I were not close. It took us both getting married and starting our own families to really get to know each other and genuinely become friends. I always wanted this kind of relationship with her, but we were so different that we clashed. I've had many conversations with my mom about her amazing relationship with her sisters, and I always wanted a friendship like that with mine. I even prayed about it for most of my childhood.
Now skip forward, we are not only fantastic siblings but we are best friends. Not a day goes by that we don't speak, even if it is just for a minute. When before we could go weeks without interacting with each other. I could not fathom that now. I finally have the sister I always wanted and I will never let us go back to the dark ages. Answered prayers are pretty special. Love you sister!!!
Every year I get the chance to take her family pictures, and I love watching her sweet family grow. My computer is filled with the images of these beloved faces, and I would have it no other way.
